The phrase ‘never judge a book by its cover’ in this context means that, this boy Auggie is a normal boy but because of his face people think he’s really different to them, so they treat him differently but he isn’t actually, he’s just a normal boy, they shouldn’t judge him by his appearance because he isn’t any different to them when it comes to his personality (don’t judge a book by it’s cover).

  10. I think that the meaning of the proverb “don’t judge a book by its cover” means
that people should not judge others or things too hastily!
When you meet somebody on the street, straight away you judge them by their appearance even though you don’t know them.
When you see a man driving by in a Rolls Royce you assume that he is wealthy even though you don’t know his bank balance.
When you see a tray of desserts in a restaurant, you pick one because of its looks, even if you have no idea what it will taste like.

“The cover” in the proverb represents somebodys appearance,
“The book” is what you don’t see.

  11. The phrase “never judge a book by its cover” means never to judge something for the way it appears. A person may not be beautiful but they could be one of the nicest people you will ever know. Judging something by the way it appears is simply unfair. Give everybody and everything a chance.Never judge people by their looks, judge people by their actions.

  12. The phrase ‘never judge a book by its cover’ can be related to many different topics. It is mostly based on people or books themselves. It basically means that one should not form an opinion on someone or something because of what is seen on the surface when, deep down the person or thing may be very different than what was expected. For example a homeless person is often very quick to be judged as a worthless human when they are the same as us, they think alike, feel the same, share the same emotions.

  13. I think that the phrase “Never judge a book by its cover” simply means that, what you see,(when you look at someone) does not really tell you about them or what they’re like.

In Wonder, August’s face is deformed so he knows that people will judge him because he looks different. He knows that people will automatically think, “if he looks strange then he will act/be strange”.The reason the phrase says to never judge a book by its cover is so that we don’t automatically think if it looks good it is good and if it looks bad it is bad.

  14. “Don’t judge a book by it’s cover” means the book may look horrible but you don’t know until you read it.

  15. The phrase ”Never judge a book by its cover” basically means don’t judge someone or something by its appearance. You may see people begging on the street and you’re thinking that the beggar is worthless being but deep down the beggar is a totally different person. Something may look bad but it is actually good.

  16. The phrase “never judge a book by it cover” means do not judge something by its appearance. Therefore you should really begin to understand other people and things aspects of life before you judge them as it is easy to make a wrong first impression.
